Divya Kala Mela 2026 – A Celebration of Ability

From 21 Feb to 1 March, the Divya Kala Mela at Rangers Ground, Dehradun, organised by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, brought together 100+ Divyang artisans and entrepreneurs from 16 states.

Students from Raphael Centre proudly participated by running a food stall and presenting a vibrant fashion show featuring traditional attire from across India. It was a beautiful celebration of talent, culture and confidence.

While the closing day saw a houseful gathering, much of the audience during the mela consisted of people already connected to the disability sector. It makes one wonder — how can inclusion truly grow if the wider community does not show up?

Platforms are important, but participation is what makes them meaningful.

Sometimes the simplest way to make someone feel valued is simply to be present.

Let’s show up, engage, appreciate, and celebrate ability beyond labels. 🌼
