The Story of Insha

In 2016 during our community work we were approached by an organisation seeking help in Jattowala village for kids who needed early intervention . With that our physio/co started intervention with home visits. It was during these visits that Insha was identified .3 year old Insha was capable of sitting but because of tightness in the lower limb was unable to walk. Her assessment showed that with regular physo therapy and special education she could show improvement.

Next we spoke with her parents and explained them that how Insha could become independent if they would send her to our new centre in Jattowala primary school where she would get complete intervention and regular physiotherapy. After a positive response from the parents Insha’s journey towards her indenpendence finally started in 2017 when she was registered in our Early Intervention Programme.

Intially when physiotherapy started she was in a lot of pain and use to cry a lot but with time and regular exercises she started adjusting in the school and started cooperating with her teachers. With regular physiotherapy ,speech therapy and special education a lot of improvement was noticed in Insha. She would actively participate in the classroom activities and a lot of improvement was observed in her receptive language and her drooling had improved significantly.

In 2018 for the first time a walker was introduced to her of which she was first given a demo by the phy therapist. Than with the help of the therapist and the walker she took her very first two steps!! Than with time she was made to practice walking on the parallel bar. Since 2019 her journey of walking with the walker started.

During lockdown with regular virtual classes and her parent’s constant support she continued her therapy and walking practice and finally after the lockdown Insha started walking independently without any support. Insha now goes independently walking her way all by herself to her school. What an achiever the girl is !!!

Give them wings they will fly ; we say give them the opportunity they will definitely walk by!!!

Sharing the journey of Insha, a girl who managed to walk independently in 2 years when she could not even stand on her own .
