Celebrating a decade of service. Happy 10 year work anniversary! (2014-2024)

10 years ago 2 students of Raphael were employed by Doon Girls School.

Sachin Barthwala aged 17 as a gardner and Dheeraj Uniyal aged 17 as an office boy. Dheeraj a student with Down Syndrome and Sachin with Multiple disabilities (Intellectual and locomotor disabilities) left Raphael in 2014 with mixed feelings, happy as they were getting employed and anxiety of settling in a new place. Sachin settled with time but Dheeraj gave everyone a tough time but kudos to Doon Girls for not giving up on him. With a lot of counselling from teachers of Raphael and a great hand holding from Doon Girls’ staff Deeraj finally settled and today we see these dedicated, happy boys who take a lot of pride in their jobs and pitch in financially to support their families.

 “Dheeraj has been working as a back-end help in the examination department for the last many years. He also helps in making paper bags for use in the office as well as for gift wrapping.

He has become confident in his speech and articulates his feelings well. He has started showing responsible behaviour towards the work assigned and can be moved between departments without any issue.

He has come a long way in the last ten years as far as his adaptability, communication, and sense of belonging are concerned.

Sachin is one of the most sincere workers we have had. He is gifted with a green thumb. A delight to work with, he bonds well with the other gardeners and does his work without being told to.

He doesn't get distracted while at work and works tirelessly in every weather. A few years back, he was voted as the most sincere worker and was awarded the "Most Sincere Worker" of the year.

Sachin is quiet and keeps to himself and maintains the decorum at school. He has become independent and had started travelling to and back from work on his own. Though quiet, he has a strong sense of right and wrong and even checks his team members when they try and sham.

We are proud and blessed to have him on our team.”
